What do you use to run your own nodes? Would buying one of those low power pcs with a big ass drive be a good idea for running a node 24/7?

> How many CPU cores/ RAM/ Storage space does it have?
The ones I was interested on average had 2C/4T. 4GBs of ram and 128GBs of storage but both of those things could be upgraded, at least the drive for fitting the whole blockchain.
> Also what is your internet speed, and are you able to port forward on your router?
300MB/s, yes
> Lastly, are you going to be using Windows or Linux?
Linux is the only choice.

that should be fine for a monero node if youre running a lightweight linux distro. However youll be very tight on space. Pruned blockchain takes up ~80-90 GB. Full node is about ~200 GB.

> 300MB/s, yes

based, thats more than enough speed so youll be good. And youll want to port forward ports 18080 TCP and 18081 TCP. You can change the ports in the config file if need be.

so fucking based. i tried using Alpine as a distro at first but i kept getting a segmentation fault when running ./monerod so i switched to debain. any distro should be fine though.
> id recommend reading up on monero nodes and stuff just you have a general idea on how to set on up, i can drop my config file if youd like

why not just buy a laptop wouldnt that be cheaper?

got myself a M72e tiny for 15 dollars and a M93p Tiny for 20 dollars. The first one has a third gen i5 and the second 4th gen. Without ram, disks and chargers but I can get those. Did I make a good deal?
